Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States, passed away on December 29th, 2024, at his home in Plains, Georgia at the age of 100. We’d like to take this opportunity to honor and reflect on his extraordinary legacy of service and compassion. In 1982, Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, founded The Carter Center, an organization dedicated to improving human rights and alleviating suffering globally. The Center's mission reflects Carter’s belief that everyone deserves access to basic human rights, including peace, health, and shelter. What began as a modest effort soon became a force for transformative change across the globe.
The Carter Center’s initiatives span various critical areas: eradicating diseases, monitoring elections to ensure fairness, and advancing mental health awareness. Carter’s hands-on approach, combined with his deep compassion, brought attention to issues that often went overlooked.
