Just Kids
April-May
Children in foster care often lack the day-to-day necessities to feel comfortable in a new home.
Over 200,000 children enter the foster care system each month (one every two minutes), and, for most, the move is so sudden, they may have virtually nothing with them except the clothes on their backs. May is officially Foster Care Month, and while the team members at Allworth will be wearing blue on May 4th (in support of Foster Care Awareness Day), the entire 2nd quarter of 2021 is devoted to fulfilling the needs of foster children through our three-month long “Just Kids” campaign.
Our Just Kids campaign goals seek to positively impact the lives of 4,000 foster children by providing them with:
- First-night kits (new home essentials and hygiene items)
- Shoes and spring clothing
- Pajamas, blankets, and undergarments

Foster children suffer from PTSD at twice the rate of war veterans.

70% of foster children get pregnant by age 21.

Many foster children end up in prison within 2 years of leaving care.
