What We'll Cover:
What should I bring to the meeting?
Because this meeting is all about you and your needs, how you prepare should be based on your specific expectations for the conversation.
We suggest that at minimum, you have a basic grasp of your current financial picture and goals. This helps your advisor better understand how to help you.
You can begin by considering how you might answer these five questions:
Five Questions to consider before your scheduled Advisor Consultation.
- What brought you in today?
- Did a specific life event or need prompt you to seek advice?
- Is there something specific you’re trying to solve?
- What are your most important financial goals right now? What about for the future?
- What concerns you most about your finances?
- How do you feel your investment accounts are performing in relation to your needs?
- What are you looking for from working with a financial advisor?
- If you’re working with an advisor, what are you currently not receiving?

Documents that can help guide your conversation.
If you would like to come prepared with more information, we suggest you also have access to the following documents (and don’t worry, digital is fine!). We will discuss this information during your meeting so your advisor can get a more detailed picture of your specific situation.
However, unless you provide these documents at least 24 hours in advance, your advisor will review them after your meeting so he or she can be fully focused on your conversation.
Helpful details to have access to include:
- Your most recent tax return
- Your latest pay stub (and those of your spouse if applicable)
- Your account statements (401(k), IRA, Roth, etc.)
- Any current investment statements
- A list of debts, including your mortgage and car payments

Start/Stop Audio and Video Settings (And Using Chat)
- At the bottom left, when your cursor moves over the screen, you can click to start your audio and video for the meeting.
- We also recommend that you open the “Chat” button in the bottom middle of the screen. This will let you chat with your advisor, should you have any difficulties setting up the video and audio. If you encounter any audio/visual technical difficulties, your advisor will call your phone to help walk you through the process.
- When the Chat box opens, you can type in messages here to your advisor.
- Beside the “Mute/Unmute” button at the bottom left, there is a little arrow. If you click the arrow, you can choose which microphone and speaker to use. This also allows you to go into your audio settings. When the microphone is picking up your voice, you will see green start to fill the microphone.
- Beside the “Stop/Start Video” button at the bottom left, there is a little arrow. If you click the arrow, you can choose which camera to use. This also allows you to go into your video settings.
