Supporting Foster Youth
What is Allworth Kids?
For almost 30 years, Allworth Financial has been working with people to help them achieve their financial goals so they can enjoy great retirements. But it’s not only about business. Since its inception, Allworth has taken community involvement seriously, donating time, energy and resources in support of worthwhile non-profits from coast-to-coast. As an outgrowth of that tradition, in December 2020, in tandem with the Ticket to Dream Foundation, and with an initial contribution of $1 million, Allworth Financial announced the creation of Allworth Kids, an ongoing, national, philanthropic endeavor that will work to provide fundraising and volunteer opportunities in support of foster children.
As part of its new initiative, Allworth Kids will support the Ticket to Dream Foundation’s goal of positively impacting the lives of foster children from the moment they enter care all the way until they transition to adulthood. Led by Allworth Co-CEO and Co-founder Scott Hanson, and his wife, Valerie Hanson - who are themselves foster parents, and who recently adopted two sisters - the $1 million initial contribution has been derived from a combination of fundraising, donations by Allworth employees and executive leadership team members, and the generosity of Scott and Valerie Hanson.
“Valerie, myself, and everyone at Allworth are incredibly thrilled to be partnering with the Ticket to Dream Foundation in support of foster children. This is only the beginning, as we seek to have a positive and lasting impact on the children who are in the foster care system from coast-to-coast, and for many, many years to come.”
- Scott Hanson, co-founder and co-CEO of Allworth Financial

Our 2021 Plan
Co-CEO Scott Hanson updates viewers and benefactors about the progress of Allworth Kids, including a recap of the initial fundraising drive from back in December of 2020 that saw the employees and clients of Allworth Financial come together to raise more than $1.3 million for foster children. 2021 will see the launch of a unique Allworth Kids’ initiative each quarter.
The first night in foster care, and beyond.
May is Foster Care Month, and our “Just Kids” spring initiative seeks to provide foster children with basic needs like shoes, clothing, and “first night kits” to help make the difficult transition into a new home a little easier for thousands of children.
It’s difficult to learn when you don’t have school supplies.
Our 3rd quarter 2021 Allworth Kids Back to School campaign is determined to help over 6,500 foster kids start the 2021-2022 school year off on the right foot. Donations will include school supplies, laptops, backpacks, and more. Our goal is to alleviate the worry that so many foster children have about starting the first day of school without the basic supplies that most students take for granted.
The Allworth Impact
While successful fundraising is vital, it’s just as important that the money be effectively utilized. The Allworth Impact is where you can read about the progress and outcomes associated with our four 2021 Allworth Kids’ campaigns.
Supporting foster youth as they transition into adulthood.
For our “Building Futures” campaign, to help provide support in the form of housing, groceries, and laptops for foster children who are “aging out” of the system, the team members at Allworth delivered desperately needed funds and assistance to 1,200 young people, along with hundreds of cards and letters of encouragement.
