Gary Grewal

Financial Advisor

CFP®, MSFP

Gary Grewal is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional in Allworth’s Sacramento, California, office. A proud graduate of UCLA (go Bruins!) with a degree in physiological science, he discovered his true passion for financial planning not in a lab—but while browsing personal finance books at a local bookstore. That moment sparked a career shift that has allowed him to combine analytical thinking with a deep desire to help others navigate their financial lives.

Gary currently lives in Sacramento with his wife, where they enjoy being close to family and friends. An avid outdoorsman, he spends his free time road biking, swimming, paddleboarding, hiking, playing tennis, and finding peace in nature. Beyond his work as a financial advisor, Gary is also an entrepreneur and author. He owns a zero-waste moving box company and wrote the book Financial Fives during the pandemic. He also teaches personal finance workshops at the University of California and volunteers for open space conservation efforts throughout the region.

Everyone’s relationship with money is shaped by their upbringing and life experiences. My role as an advisor is to uncover what truly matters to each client and help ensure their financial plan and portfolio align with their values and vision for life. That’s why I focus on building genuine connections first—humanizing the process before diving into the numbers. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, so I take the time to craft a tailored approach that supports each client’s most meaningful goals.

Throughout our partnership, my clients can expect thoughtful, free-flowing conversations about who they are, what drives them, and where they want life to take them. I ask deep questions, offer reassurance, and strive to create a space where they feel at ease discussing both opportunities and challenges. Whether it’s helping someone retire, buying a dream home, navigating a loss, or planning for life’s uncertainties, I’m here to support my clients through every chapter—both the joyful and the difficult. My goal is to be a steady, trusted presence in their lives, guiding them and their loved ones through each milestone with clarity and care.

I really love the life-changing impact we can make in people’s lives. It’s incredibly rewarding to help someone move from feeling uncertain or overwhelmed about their finances to feeling confident, empowered, and excited about their future. I’ve had clients walk into my office worried about market volatility or unsure if they could support their families long-term—and leave with the realization that they can retire early, buy that electric car, or finally start that kitchen renovation. Those moments are why I do this work.

I also enjoy that every client is different. Not just in personality, but in their goals, needs, and vision for the future. Most of those goals have a dollar sign attached to them, and I take pride in helping clients align their finances with what matters most to them. Through thoughtful planning and clear guidance, we turn financial uncertainty into possibility.

I enjoy being a financial advisor because we make monumental differences in a client’s life by the work we do. We can take them from feeling fearful or hopeless, to feeling empowered and excited.
