Jerod Patterson is a Wealth Management Certified Professional® based in Allworth’s Vancouver, Washington, office. With a bachelor’s degree in finance and a minor in economics, Jerod has more than a decade of experience in the financial services industry. He began his career in commodity and futures trading but soon found his true calling in helping individuals and families navigate the complexities of financial and retirement planning.
Known for his analytical mindset and genuine passion for problem-solving, Jerod isn’t shy about calling himself a “numbers nerd.” He thrives on digging into the details and building financial plans that bring clarity and confidence to his clients’ lives.
Outside the office, Jerod and his partner, Angie, make the most of the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty. Whether it’s hiking, fitness, “glamping,” or exploring trails in their Polaris RZR, they love spending time outdoors. They also enjoy showcasing their classic 1971 C-10 Chevy pickup at summer car shows and sampling the region’s vibrant food, wine, and microbrew scene.
When I first meet with a client, I start by focusing on what really matters—goals, values, and priorities. Once we’ve clarified what they’re working toward, then we begin talking about the financial picture. I gather key information, such as income, expenses, assets, debts, taxes, insurance, and any existing estate plans to help build a plan that’s grounded in the client’s unique life and aspirations.
Every person communicates differently, so I let the client set the tone. I ask open-ended questions and listen carefully, making sure the process feels collaborative and comfortable. I see this as a partnership, not a one-way service. My role is to educate and empower, and I’m happy to go as deep into the details as a client wants—or keep it high level if that’s more helpful.
I also believe that financial planning doesn’t have to feel dry or overwhelming. A little humor (when appropriate) goes a long way, and I do my best to keep the experience approachable and even enjoyable. Money and taxes may not be everyone’s favorite topics, but a well-placed smile can make all the difference.
For me, the most meaningful part of this work is the relationships. I genuinely enjoy getting to know my clients—not just their financial goals, but their perspectives, stories, and life philosophies. Every conversation is an opportunity to connect and better understand what matters most to them.
Some of my most rewarding moments are when someone walks into a meeting feeling anxious or uncertain, and after an hour together, they leave feeling clearer, calmer, and more confident. Those are the days that remind me exactly why I do what I do.
To me, financial planning is a partnership. I aim to provide clarity, support, and when the moment’s right, a bit of humor to make financial planning more human and approachable.
