Kevin Spafford is a Partner Advisor and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional in Allworth’s Spokane, Washington, office. With deep expertise in succession, retirement, and estate planning, Kevin works closely with family business owners, farmers, and pre-retirees to help them build lasting financial security and ensure smooth transitions across generations. His strategic approach helps clients navigate complex decisions, minimize tax consequences, and preserve family legacies.

A recognized leader in his field, Kevin is the architect of the award-winning Farm Journal Legacy Project and the author of Legacy by Design: Succession Planning for Agribusiness Owners, a trusted resource for farmers facing succession decisions. He’s also developed several workbooks and planning tools, facilitated workshops for farm and ranch families nationwide, and hosted five seasons of the Leave a Legacy TV show.

Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Management with a concentration in Business from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Outside the office, he enjoys flying, fishing, hunting, and camping. He and his wife, Anne-Marie, are proud parents to their son, Drew, and daughter, Sara, and even prouder grandparents.

I take the time to truly understand my clients before making any recommendations. In fact, I often meet with clients several times before we formally begin the planning or investment process. That’s because I believe in walking in their shoes—getting to know their values, goals, concerns, and what success means to them personally. It’s only with that level of understanding that meaningful, tailored advice can take shape.

That deep listening is matched by a clear sense of responsibility. As a fiduciary, I’m committed to acting in each client’s best interest and always putting their priorities ahead of my own. It’s a standard I take seriously, and one that guides every interaction and decision.

Drawing from years of experience working with farmers, family business owners, and successful entrepreneurs, I don’t shy away from complex situations—in fact, I welcome them. Throughout our partnership, my clients can expect thoughtful, individualized guidance grounded in real-world insight and a deep respect for the legacies they’ve built.

At the heart of my work is a simple motivation: I enjoy helping people. I find real satisfaction in taking complex financial issues and making them understandable so clients, especially family business owners, can make confident decisions for themselves and their families. Because when they feel informed and empowered, they’re better equipped to protect what they’ve built and secure their family’s future. That’s the outcome I’m always working toward.

I take the time to walk in my clients’ shoes before making recommendations, because the best advice comes from truly understanding their world.
