Hugh B. Phillips is a Partner Advisor and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional based in Allworth’s Fairfield, California, office. A former college football player, the Napa, California, resident holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from California State University, Hayward.
The foundation of my process is a thorough discovery and taking the time to build a complete financial profile and truly understand each client’s circumstances. That’s not a one-time step; life changes, and I believe updating the plan regularly is just as important as creating it in the first place.
That ongoing attention is supported by nearly four decades of experience. I’ve learned that clear communication and patient listening are essential to navigating complex financial decisions. I draw on that experience to help clients make sound choices, especially in times of uncertainty.
At the core, I see my role as a behavioral investment counselor. In my view, that’s the single greatest value an advisor can offer—helping clients stay focused, grounded, and on track, no matter what the markets or life may bring.
Over the years, I’ve found that the greatest barriers to financial independence often come from within. Human nature—our emotions, instincts, and ingrained habits—can easily steer us off course. My job is to help clients maintain perspective, think clearly, and make decisions that align with their goals. That opportunity to make a meaningful, lasting impact on my clients’ financial futures is what keeps me motivated every day.
