John Kent
Regional Vice President and Wealth Management Consultant
John Kent is a Regional Vice President and Wealth Management Consultant at Allworth Financial, where he helps clients bring clarity and confidence to every stage of their financial lives. With a career built at some of the industry’s most respected investment firms, John combines disciplined portfolio management with a genuine focus on the people behind the plan. He takes the time to understand each client’s goals, priorities, and concerns, then translates them into a clear strategy that adapts as life changes. His clients appreciate his straightforward communication, steady guidance, and commitment to helping them make informed decisions.
Prior to joining Allworth, John built his experience across the wealth management industry, including roles at T. Rowe Price, Fidelity, and Fisher Investments, where he worked with individuals and families on investment and planning needs. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and international business from Warner University. Throughout his career, he has focused on building long-term relationships grounded in trust, transparency, and a clear understanding of each client’s goals.
I start with a conversation, not a checklist. Before discussing investments or strategies, I want to understand what matters most to a client, what they’re working toward, and what concerns are on their mind. Everyone defines financial success differently, so I believe the plan should be built around their life, not the other way around.
Once I understand the bigger picture, I help connect the different components of their financial life and translate their priorities into a clear, actionable strategy. I keep the process straightforward and make sure clients understand not only what we’re recommending, but why it matters and how each decision supports what they want to accomplish.
Throughout the process, clients can expect me to listen carefully, communicate directly, and tell them what I genuinely think. Financial advice shouldn’t feel intimidating or unnecessarily complicated, and no one should hesitate to ask a question because they think they should already know the answer. Above all, I want clients to know they have an advocate in their corner, someone who understands them and is committed to helping make the most of their financial lives.
What I value most about this work is the opportunity to connect with clients and understand what they truly want from their financial lives. Learning about their ambitions, needs, and concerns allows us to collaborate on a plan and bring it to life.
The most rewarding moments come when I get to see what that looks like beyond the numbers. Maybe a client retires several years earlier than expected, gives more generously to family or causes they care about, or enjoys a lifestyle they once weren’t sure was possible. Hearing how our work together helped create those opportunities is what continues to make this profession so meaningful to me.
Financial planning is about more than numbers. It’s about understanding what matters most to each client and building a plan that helps them move forward with confidence.
