Partner Advisor, Tax Specialist
CPA, CFP®, MST
Michael Callahan is a Partner Advisor and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional serving Allworth’s Lynnfield, Massachusetts, office. With more than 20 years of experience, he specializes in comprehensive wealth planning, drawing on his background in personal financial planning, business taxation, and individual tax strategy. He is also a CPA and holds a Master of Science in Taxation from Bentley University, bringing a deep understanding of the tax considerations that shape long-term financial decisions.
Mike’s passion for financial planning was inspired by personal experiences that underscored the importance of thoughtful preparation and informed decision-making. Those early lessons continue to shape his commitment to helping individuals and families make confident financial decisions and prepare for the future.
Outside of his work with clients, Mike is the founder and Executive Director of the Kristin M. Callahan Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), particularly among young people. A lifelong Massachusetts resident, Mike was raised in North Reading and now lives in North Andover with his wife, Danielle, and their two children, Emily and Jack.
For me, it always comes down to listening. Every client brings a unique set of experiences that shape how they think about money, make financial decisions, and define success. While every plan begins with sound financial strategies, it’s those personal nuances that transform a good plan into one that’s truly tailored to the individual.
Over the years, I’ve learned that understanding a client’s relationship with money is just as important as understanding their balance sheet. The experiences, values, and perspectives they bring often provide the context needed to deliver advice that resonates and a plan they can feel confident following.
Clients can expect more than a financial advisor when working with me; they can expect a long-term partner. My role extends well beyond building financial plans and managing investments. It’s about being responsive, providing thoughtful guidance, and helping relieve the burden that financial decisions can sometimes create. At its core, wealth management is about providing peace of mind, and I take that responsibility seriously.
My passion for financial planning began with personal experience. While I was in college, I received an inheritance that prompted me to think differently about money and the role it could play in helping someone achieve their goals. Combined with seeing friends and family experience the consequences of inadequate planning—from insufficient life insurance to overlooked estate planning—I was inspired to change my major to finance and pursue a career where I could help others make more informed financial decisions.
What continues to motivate me today is the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of my clients. Financial planning is one of the few professions where the work we do can have a measurable impact, and I consider it a privilege to watch clients enjoy the results of years of thoughtful planning throughout retirement. I can’t think of a more rewarding way to spend my career.
