Rob Thomas
Financial Advisor
CFP®
Rob Thomas is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional serving Allworth’s Denton, Texas, office. He began his career in financial services after spending several years as a high school teacher and head baseball coach at Denton Braswell High School. With a passion for helping others and a natural ability to lead and connect, Rob brings a relational, team-oriented approach to his work with clients.
A native of East Texas, Rob grew up near Tyler in a sports-focused household where hard work, discipline, and character were everyday values. He played collegiate baseball at Panola College before completing his degree at the University of North Texas—experiences that shaped his competitive drive and collaborative mindset, both of which now guide his work as a financial advisor.
Rob lives in Argyle with his wife, Susy, and their daughter. Together, they enjoy an active lifestyle, spending time with family and friends, watching college football, playing golf, and serving in their local church community.
I like to begin with open-ended questions that have little to do with finances but are rather centered around interests, family relationships, and even hobbies. These conversations then create space for meaningful dialogue and true collaboration. Because by understanding what drives a client’s decisions, I can tailor financial guidance that aligns with their unique motivations and priorities.
That foundation of trust and understanding is what allows me to provide meaningful, well-rounded advice. Financial “advice” is everywhere, but true financial planning goes far beyond investment strategy. My role is to help my clients make confident decisions across the full spectrum of their financial lives, whether that’s investment selection, life insurance, charitable giving, Social Security timing, or tax-efficient retirement income strategies. I aim to connect each recommendation to a clear, personalized plan that supports the life they want to build.
Growing up in Texas, team sports—especially football—were a big part of my life. Whether I was on the field or in the dugout, I learned the value of discipline, teamwork, and showing up for the people around me. That mindset continues to shape how I approach my work as a financial advisor today. Each client is like the quarterback of their own team, and my job is to listen, offer guidance, help them build the right playbook.
And just like in sports, every game and every player is different. Even when the strategies are similar, the motivations and goals behind them are deeply personal. Good advice starts with understanding the person behind the numbers and building a plan that truly reflects what matters most to them.
I approach this work the same way I approached coaching: with a focus on preparation, teamwork, and helping others succeed.
