Stephen Ahern

Partner Advisor, Tax Specialist

CPA/PFS, CFP®, AEP®, MST

Stephen Ahern is a Partner Advisor serving Allworth’s Lynnfield, Massachusetts, office. With nearly 40 years of experience, he helps successful individuals, families, business owners, and executives make informed decisions across every aspect of their financial lives. As a Certified Public Accountant, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, and Accredited Estate Planner®, Steve brings an integrated perspective that combines wealth management, tax strategy, estate planning, investment counsel, and long-term financial planning into one coordinated approach.

Previously, Steve was the President and founding member of Sachetta, LLC, a Lynnfield-based wealth management firm that partnered with Allworth in 2026. Throughout his career, he has helped clients navigate complex financial decisions, from business transitions and retirement planning to multigenerational wealth strategies and tax-efficient investing. He is particularly valued for bringing practical clarity to sophisticated financial situations, helping clients move beyond fragmented advice toward a more coordinated, long-term strategy.

Steve earned his Master of Science in Taxation and also holds the Personal Financial Specialist designation. In addition to advising clients, he has been a frequent speaker on financial planning, investment management, retirement, and tax planning for corporations and professional organizations. He has also served the profession in leadership roles, including with the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Planning Association of Massachusetts.

Stephen grew up locally in Burlington and now resides with his wife, Janet, in Naples, FL, and Stoneham, MA. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his three children and granddaughter, traveling the world, skiing, boating, playing tennis, and golfing.

I’ve always believed it’s more important to listen than to talk. Every client relationship begins by understanding why someone is seeking advice, what they’re hoping to accomplish, and the challenges they’re facing. Only after developing that understanding can we begin designing strategies that truly reflect their goals and circumstances.

From there, planning becomes a collaborative process. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all solution, I work alongside my clients to develop a comprehensive strategy tailored to their unique financial lives. As goals evolve and circumstances change, we continually refine the plan to help ensure it remains aligned with what matters most.

Throughout our time together, my clients can expect a trusted partner who listens carefully, communicates openly, and is genuinely invested in helping them achieve their long-term objectives. My role is not simply to provide answers, but to help clients make thoughtful decisions with the benefit of experience, perspective, and a coordinated plan.

People deserve advice that looks at the whole picture. But too often, successful individuals and families receive fragmented guidance from multiple professionals, making it difficult to see how each decision affects the next. Helping clients bring those pieces together into one coordinated strategy is one of the most rewarding aspects of my work.

The true reward, however, isn’t simply building the plan. It’s watching that plan unfold over time. Seeing my clients achieve the goals they’ve envisioned, enjoy the life they’ve worked so hard to build, and knowing our planning played a meaningful role in that journey is what continues to make this work so fulfilling.
