Partner Advisor

Tim Vanech is a Partner Advisor in Allworth’s Norwood, Massachusetts, office. With more than 30 years of experience in financial services, he works with individuals, families, and institutions to develop goals-based wealth management strategies tailored to their long-term objectives. His expertise spans customized investment planning, endowment management, and retirement plan consulting for individuals, corporate, and nonprofit clients. Previously, Tim was the co-founder and Managing Director of Shorepoint Capital Partners, a Norwood-based wealth management firm that partnered with Allworth in 2025.

A cum laude graduate of Harvard College—where he also played baseball—Tim was recognized with multiple Certificates of Distinction in Teaching as a Head Teaching Fellow. His investment writing has been featured in Barron’s, and he contributed the introduction to updated editions of Humphrey B. Neill’s classic works The Art of Contrary Thinking and The Ruminator. He is also a published poet and fiction writer.

As a dedicated advocate for access and opportunity, Tim is the Senior VP of both the Westport Land Conservation Trust and the Classical High School Alumni Association. He is especially proud of the Tina Vanech Scholarship Fund, established in honor of his mother, which supports a student each year at Community Preparatory School in Providence, and he finds joy in working with the students of Community Prep to make decisions on the portion of the endowment that they manage.

A devoted husband and proud father of two kids and two “bonus” kids, Tim splits his time between his home in North Kingstown, RI, and his beach home in Westport, MA. He enjoys travel, reading, racket sports, time outdoors, and a good cup of coffee. He wishes he were as good at golf as he is at body surfing.

Having grown up in a family of modest means, I’ve seen firsthand how much financial progress can be made in just one generation. That experience continues to shape the way I approach this work. For me, financial planning is an invitation for those who want to take control of their future and create meaningful change for themselves and the people they care about.

That process begins with getting to know each client on a deeper level. I see financial planning as an ongoing conversation, one built on trust, curiosity, and mutual respect. By understanding who my clients are and what they envision for their lives, we’re able to craft a personalized plan that aligns with their goals, values, and timeline.

Throughout our partnership, my clients can expect a thoughtful, engaged advisor who listens closely, speaks honestly, and brings both care and conviction to the table. Whether the decision is large or small, it all adds up. And yes, the process can even be enjoyable along the way!

Financial advising is one of the most personal and rewarding careers I can imagine. Few professions offer this kind of long-term, consistent, and meaningful access to people’s lives, the opportunity to make a truly positive, sometimes even transformative, impact. That’s what drives me every day.

It’s that desire to make a meaningful difference that shapes how I approach each client relationship. I often think about Maslow’s hierarchy of needs as a framework for understanding where clients are in their journey. Whether someone is focused on building a sense of security, striving for greater comfort and stability, or looking to make a broader impact in their community, I see my role as a kind of guide to help them navigate toward the version of life they most want to live.

I’ve lived the power of financial progress. Now, I help others write that story for their own families.
