Senior Vice President and Wealth Management Consultant

Gretchen McLaughlin is a Senior Vice President and Wealth Management Consultant at Allworth Financial. A seasoned financial professional with extensive experience in wealth management and client advisory services, she helps high-net-worth investors navigate financial planning with strategic insights and personalized guidance. By leveraging her robust background in investment strategy and client development, Gretchen blends technical expertise with a client-first mindset, focusing on customized investment strategies, tax efficiency, and wealth preservation. She also serves on the Allworth Women’s Collective Steering Committee, helping to shape the firm’s efforts in strengthening relationships with women investors and supporting the advancement of female advisors across Allworth.

Prior to Allworth, Gretchen held leadership roles at Wealth Enhancement Advisory Services, RMB Capital Management, Wells Fargo, UBS, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, and Guggenheim Partners. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history and Spanish from Middlebury College and has served on various boards, including the Denver Athletic Club and ACE Scholarships.

My priority is developing a clear understanding of each client’s objectives, concerns, and the risks they are seeking to manage. This often includes long-term cash flow, tax exposure, and the ability to act opportunistically in changing market environments. That perspective serves as the foundation for a highly customized financial strategy, as effective wealth management is never one-size-fits-all.

At Allworth, we approach planning with a “personal CFO” mindset, focusing on the full scope of a client’s financial life. That means integrating investment strategy, tax planning, and estate coordination into a cohesive framework, rather than addressing each area in isolation. From the outset, we evaluate these elements together to ensure decisions are aligned and optimized across the entire balance sheet.

A key part of my role is helping clients gain clarity early in the process. We begin with a preliminary wealth plan designed to bring structure to complex situations and identify opportunities across investments, taxes, and long-term planning. This foundation allows clients to better understand their position and make informed decisions as we transition into an ongoing advisory relationship.

Throughout the process, I focus on distilling complexity into clear, actionable insights. Clients can expect a thoughtful, highly coordinated experience that prioritizes education, transparency, and forward-looking guidance.

I believe one of the most important decisions in wealth planning is choosing the right long-term partner. My role is to help bring clarity to that decision by distilling complex financial topics into clear, thoughtful insights. Because when complexity is reduced and the “noise” is removed, clients are better positioned to evaluate their options and move forward with confidence.

There is nothing more rewarding than knowing my work has helped clients reach a point where they can truly enjoy the wealth they’ve built, with trust in the partner supporting their long-term strategy.
